River Retreat

This unique design/build contemporary home in Osterville, created by Hutker Architects, is comprised of a main house, guest house, and carriage house all constructed with meticulous attention to detail by the team at C.H. Newton Builders.

The buildings feature stunning stone buttress walls, decorative wooden trusses, shingle and nickel gap cedar boards, with windows and doors that evoke the look of Corton Steel, and a standing seam “Freedom Gray” Copper Roof. One of the most important rooms during the design/planning phase was ‘The Life Room,’ which is an open concept kitchen with living room and separate dining alcove featuring outstanding water views. This room is illuminated with clusters of breathtaking pendant lights and outfitted with oak trusses and custom metal rods. A double-sided fireplace is set into a flat steel surround, built into the stone wall that wraps right out to the exterior.

Adjacent to this room, a large covered porch with phantom screens and beams offers the homeowners an outdoor dining space protected from the elements, next to a mahogany deck complete with outdoor kitchen and sitting area. A firepit is creatively integrated into the stone retaining wall, perfect for watching the sunset over Seapuit River and Dead Neck Island. Walk down the flagstone path to the outdoor shower and state-of-the-art fitness center which overlooks a stunning pool and spa with a bluestone patio and coping. This custom home demanded the highest level of award-winning execution is what C.H. Newton Builders is famous for.
